Founded in 1882 by Fr. Michael J. McGivney, at St. Mary's Parish in New Haven, Connecticut, the Knights of Columbus is a Catholic fraternity centered on Catholic teachings, and founding principles of Charity, Unity, Fraternity & Patriotism. With approximately 15,000 councils around the world, and membership nearing 2 million, the order has become a visible symbol of the response of Catholic men around the world, to our call to humble service of those most in need.
For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me . . . I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me’” (Matthew 25:34-36, 40)
